Planning and construction
These terms describe the route from an idea to a finished garment.
- Sketchbook — the planning interface for commissions, silhouettes, colour ideas, and fabric samples
- Dress piece — a selectable garment component such as a bodice, sleeve, skirt, or collar
- Pattern piece — the flat shape arranged on fabric and cut to create a panel
- Panel — a cut piece of fabric that is placed on the mannequin and sewn into the dress
- Mannequin — the adjustable dress form used to assemble cut panels
Fabric and decoration
The game models where a pattern is placed on cloth, so ordinary sewing vocabulary affects the visible result.
- Grain — the main direction of the fabric; a pattern can be aligned with it
- Bias — a diagonal orientation across the grain that changes how a visible print lands
- Trim — a decorative edge or band; a Lace Trim requirement uses the game’s exact category
- Accessory — a placed decoration such as a button, bow, appliqué, or trim
- Thread colour — the sewing-machine thread colour, selectable from the spools in Build 410
Clients and progression
These terms separate story work from freeform shop activity.
- Commission — a client request with an occasion, preferences, and requirements
- Major commission — a story commission that contributes to a named client’s achievement arc
- Pigeon commission — a request received through the invitation system later in progression
- Off-the-rack dress — a premade design displayed and sold without a client brief
- Build — the numbered game version used to identify which rules and fixes a guide describes
